Interview Tips

Be Positive
A job interview is not the hurdle some people make of it, and you should approach it in a confident and positive frame of mind. See it more as a mutual exchange of ideas or a two-way conversation - remember you are also there to do the interviewing! Try to relax; after all, the interviewer wants to fill the position and is hoping you will be the one. If you have been pre-interviewed by a recruitment consultancy you come recommended, giving you an edge over candidates who applied directly.

Be Prepared
The Sirius Consultant who is organising the interview for you will brief you on the company and the position before sending you to the interview. You may like to look at the company's web site and do some research yourself. Armed with this information you can then emphasise the relevant aspects of your market experience and technical skills. You can also prepare some questions for the end of the interview about the organisation, your role, training programs and future aspects.

Be on Time!
On the day of the interview you must be on time - if  you are not, be early! The interviewer will probably be a busy person and have slotted you into a schedule of interviews. If you are late this reflects badly on your time management skills and priorities.

First Impressions
When you meet the interviewer, shake hands firmly and look the person in the eye. Smart business dress will put you in a favorable light.

Don't Waffle
When you answer a question, come to the point first,  then expand on it with background information and examples - not the other way around!

Salary
If you are in a client interview and they ask you about your salary, tell them that you would prefer they talked to your Sirius Consultant about it. This will enable your Consultant to negotiate the most competitive rate for you.

After the Interview
Call your Consultant and give them feedback on what you thought about the company and the position, and how you think you went. This will ensure your Consultant can discuss your suitability and level of interest accurately with the Client.
